Fellow · Electric kettle

Stagg EKG Pro

A kettle that heats to the degree you set, holds it there, and pours slowly enough to be precise.

The case

  • You set any temperature from 104°F to 212°F. Fellow says it will hold that temperature for 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, so the second cup gets the same water as the first.
  • The precision pour spout is built for a slow, steady stream, which is what pour-over coffee depends on.
  • The Pro adds a schedule (hot water ready at a set time), guide presets and an altitude setting, because water boils cooler up a mountain.

For

The pour-over person, the green-tea person, and anyone who has said "just off the boil" out loud.

Skip if

They want a big kettle for a family. It holds 0.9 litres.

Know before you give

The Pro is the version with all the settings: a schedule, guide presets, altitude, pre-boil and a clock. If they only want water at a set temperature, they may not need all of it.

How we chose it

We built this from the maker's published specifications and documentation, checked on the date below. We haven't tested it in hand. Prices are the maker's list or a recent retailer price.
